Refund & Return Policy

At La Madeleine Candles, we want you to be happy with your purchase. If you change your mind about a product, you may have the right to return it in accordance with applicable Dutch and European consumer law.

This policy applies to our candles, wax melts, candle accessories, wax warmers and Home Deco products.

1. Right of Withdrawal

If you are a consumer purchasing from our webshop, you have the right to cancel your purchase within 14 days without giving a reason.

The 14-day period starts on the day after you, or a person designated by you, receives the order.

After notifying us that you wish to cancel your purchase, you have a further 14 days to send the product back.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, please contact us before returning your order. Please include your order number and clearly state which product(s) you wish to return.

2. Candles

Our candles may be returned provided they have not been burned or otherwise used.

You may remove the candle from its packaging and inspect it in a reasonable manner, similar to how you would inspect a product in a physical shop.

Candles must not have been:

• Burned or lit.

• Used as a decorative candle.

• Altered, cut, melted or otherwise modified.

• Damaged through use.

If a candle has been burned or used beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect the product, you may still have a right to cancel the purchase, but we may deduct an amount from the refund to account for the reduction in value caused by the use.

For example, a candle that has been burned for several hours cannot normally be returned as a completely unused product.

3. Wax Melts

Wax melts may be returned provided they are unused and in an appropriate condition for resale.

Please do not melt, heat or otherwise use wax melts before returning them if you wish to receive a full refund.

Where wax melts are supplied in sealed packaging, we recommend keeping the packaging intact.

If a wax melt has been used, melted or damaged, we may deduct an appropriate amount from the refund to reflect any reduction in value.

4. Home Deco & Accessories

Our Home Deco products, including items such as vases, jugs, mugs, doormats, candle holders and wax warmers, may generally be returned within the applicable withdrawal period.

Products should be returned:

• Unused.

• Undamaged.

• Clean and free from stains or marks.

• With their original packaging and accessories where reasonably possible.

For fragile Home Deco products, please ensure they are packaged securely when returning them.

Any reduction in value caused by unnecessary handling, damage or use may be deducted from the refund.

5. Products Made or Personalised Specifically for You

The right of withdrawal may not apply to products that are made according to your specifications or clearly personalised for you.

This may include customised candles or other products that have been specifically produced or modified according to your personal requirements.

If you are unsure whether a customised product can be returned, please contact us before placing your order.

6. Return Shipping Costs

If you simply change your mind and exercise your right of withdrawal, you are responsible for the direct cost of returning the product.

If the product is faulty, damaged on arrival, incorrect, or otherwise does not conform to your order, please contact us before returning it. In these situations, we will provide an appropriate solution in accordance with your statutory consumer rights.

We recommend using a tracked shipping service when returning an order. La Madeleine Candles cannot be responsible for returns that are lost or damaged while being shipped back by the customer.

7. Refunds

Once we receive your return, we will inspect the products and process your refund.

When you validly exercise your right of withdrawal, we will refund:

• The purchase price of the returned product(s).

• The cost of our cheapest standard delivery option used for the original order.

If you selected a more expensive delivery method, we are not required to refund the additional cost.

The refund will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original purchase.

We may wait with the refund until we have received the returned products or until you provide evidence that you have sent them back, whichever occurs first.

If a product has been used or damaged beyond what is necessary to inspect it, we may deduct the resulting reduction in value from the refund.

8. Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We carefully package our candles and Home Deco products, but unfortunately products can occasionally become damaged during transportation.

If your order arrives damaged or you have received the wrong product, please contact us as soon as possible.

Please provide:

• Your order number.

• A description of the problem.

• Photographs of the product.

• Photographs of the packaging and shipping box where applicable.

Please keep the original packaging until we have resolved the issue.

If a product is defective, damaged or does not conform to the agreement, your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

9. Sale & Discounted Products

Sale items and products purchased using a discount code can still be returned under the same statutory conditions as products purchased at full price.

A promotional price does not remove your legal right of withdrawal.

10. Exchanges

We currently do not offer guaranteed direct exchanges.

If you would like a different candle, scent, wax melt, Home Deco item or other product, you can return the original product in accordance with this policy and place a new order.

11. How to Return an Order

Before sending anything back, please contact us so that we can provide the correct return instructions and return address.

Please do not send a return to an address that has not been confirmed by La Madeleine Candles.
